Twenty Kilograms

It’s a joke, and not a very good one. I don’t know how I should bring the most needed stuff if I am only allowed to take twenty kilograms. Why on earth did I decide to go to China? Why couldn’t I just stay here, keep the apartment, enjoy the semester break, …? Next week the lecture period will start at Tongji. The fun continues.

I Need Sleep

05:56 am. I’ve been in Cham for about an hour. Three hours until the furniture has to be lugged to the third floor. Afterwards, I have to drive 150 km back to Freising to clean the apartment. And nothing’s packed yet. The things I planned to take along are much heavier than 20 kg and more than I can fit in my suitcase.

Excitement

“Dominik has no time to be excited about Shanghai.” That was on Wednesday. Now the exams are over and I’m going to move out tomorrow. Still not much time, but there is room for a little excitement.

This Time Next Week

I’ll be aboard Air China flight 962 on my way to Shanghai. I’ll have written two more exams, cleared the apartment I have been living in for the last three and a half years and hope I won’t have to sleep under a bridge when I will have arrived.

Failures

Two lamps, three clocks, what’s next? Perhaps that tells me that it’s time to leave.

16 Days

One exam next Thursday, two more the Friday after next, then two days to clear out the apartment and I’ll be gone. Is there any time for a farewell party?

Blackwater

They turned off the water again. Due to rusty pipes it’s always brown afterwards. Today, it was partly black. I can’t believe the Chinese water can be any worse.

Delta M

Four weeks until I have to be in Shanghai. No appartment yet. But a flight:

Itinerary Munich - Shanghai

I’ll arrive in Hongqiao rather than the modern Pudong Airport. It’s nearer and I better get my things to wherever I stay before exploring the city.

According to the lady of the Air China service hotline I may take thirty kilogram to Beijing but only twenty to Shanghai. Different regulations for international and domestic flights. Ok. I thought about sending some stuff by mail. Beijing, Shanghai. That shouldn’t take too long. A Chinese friend advised against it. Hm.

Anti

I don’t want to write on my semester thesis, don’t want to study for the exams, don’t want to clear out my appartment and don’t want to go to China. Although I have to admit that the images Jan and Michael took look quite good.

Eat the Dog

I’m allergic and that stupid critter distributes its hair all over the house. :(

Clever Use

Hooray, lifehacker shows us how to open a letter with a pen. Who would have thought this was possible? Watch out for the next episodes about how to do it using a key or, highly audacious, a finger.

Water Works

Unlike Nanx I was only two hours without water and it was because of renovation works two floors below. But I don’t think that in her case a worker appeared every thirty minutes to look whether the water is finally turned off or to tell that from now on the drain mustn’t be used as well. And I had planned not to stand up until they’re done.

Update: Arrg, there’s no hot water anymore. The best I get is lukewarm. :(

Temporary Coziness

Green hair in the bathroom, tobacco on the floor and she thinks it’s much cozier now…

Deadline

All documents sent to China. I didn’t apply for the dorm and hope I can find an appartment in this compound.
